They can live through nuclear wars and haven't needed to evolve for the past 500 million years. A massive cockroach ran down my body when I was in bed and I now live in fear every night, and they don't even have them here in the UK.

Blogs that make me laugh. I love most to chuckle and anybody that has the amazing ability to write in a funny way gets my thumbs up. Fazed and Rob in China are two of them.
Blogs that inform me of exciting new sites. It was Atariboy that informed me of BlogMad and look what that has happened to my life recently!
Blogs that talk about something original. Tonight I read tinyblob - It is a really well written site that, if you can be bothered to read it, educates and enlightens.

3. People who want to kill themselves. Take up meditation or read a good book.

Top 10 Lads Toys of the Eighties - Which Was Your Favourite?

If you were a lad of the 80's you will probably remember many of these. If you weren't, check them out anyway. These were the 80's best toys for lads:

10. Buckaroo

Hang loads of items from the bucking plastic horse and as more stuff gets put on, the likelihood of bucking increases. A tense and exciting classic - and a bit crap!

9. Electronic Battleships

Just like paper battleships but with flashing lights and sound effects. Wonderful.

8. Rubik's Cube

"The brain teaser to end all brain teaser puzzles, you had a 6 colored cube which you had to reorganize. You could either peel off the stickers or pull it apart with pliers if you gave up. " - inthe80s

7. Spirograph

I used to take this out once in a while when I was a kid and draw lots of crazy circles. Not sure why.

6. Big Trak

This was my first real geek toy. Before I got my Commodore 64 and Atari ST, this was the first thing I ever programmed. It was kinda boring, but the photo brings back loadsa memories. Ah - I was happy then!

5. Twister

What a game. So simple and yet so much fun. Especially as you got a bit older!

4. Evel Kneivel Stunt Bike

This is one of my earliest memories - Evel Kneivel Stunt Bike, a pull back and rev toy with stunt loop the loop plastic strip.

3. Star Wars Action Figures

The number of hours I spent with Luke, Chewy and my big Millenium Falcon.. Some people saved there figures to sell when they were old. Sad gits! This one has gone for US$400!

2. Tranformers

......robots in disguise!

1. Atari

Can you remember playing Pacman and Frogger. Take your mind back to the excitement of shifting10 pixels around with a stick. You young whipper-snappers might not understand it now, but in those days, Atari was king!

Rabbletease has pointed out this first-rate site. Fot the past 27 years, a big group of people have grouped together on an annual basis. The reason they have got together is so that everytime an Amtrak train goes past them they all line up and show their nether-cheeks to the passenegers.

Just imagine it - You are sat on a train, slightly bored, you look out of the window and there are 50 people all mooning you! Well, it makes me smile.

Experimental Gameplay Project - Write a Game in a Week

Now this is an interesting idea. Write a game in a week. That is the first rule of the Experimental Gameplay Project. Each game must be made by exactly one person and Each game must be based around a common theme i.e. "gravity", "vegetation", "swarms", etc. The initial team then went off and spent one semester following the plan.

The results of the ongoing experiment are very interesting. They have documented the lessons they learnt here. They based many of their games on music and art and spent much of the week sat around running 'simulations' through their heads while sat on bean bags, listening to their stereos. They found that games based simple ideas worked best and that fancy sound and graphics could would only help a solid idea (something that every game player knows). They also found that brainstorming sessions were generally useless and that most ideas pop up and the strangest of times.

If you are interested in writing games (or playing them), take a look. You may even feel like giving it a go yourself. I know I do.

Steve, Don't Eat It is part of The Sneeze. and is an extremely funny blog. Steve selects different food stuffs, describes them in snort causing writing and then eats and reviews them. Some of the things he tries include prison wine, Pickled Pork Rinds, Beggin' Strip dog snacks and a weird fungus called Cuitlacoche:

For some reason, I have always had a fascination for the underground. Tunnels, dug-outs, mines, old military bases and sub-ways. Maybe it is because that they are hidden - a captivation with the unknown. Subterranea Brittanica currently has 250 pages documenting all sorts of underground features. You simply select the region of the country you are interested in and the have a browse.

Create a New Iran - Interesting New Online Nation Creation Game

NationStates is an interesting new game I found via Fazed.org. It allows you to set up a nation, giving it a name, a flag and a motto and then specifying how it is run. You are asked questions such as "Should marijuana be legal?" and "How do you view corporations?" and these determine what kind of country you run.

Once the game is up and going, you are asked to make choices on the latest issues that face your nation. I have only just started, but the first one I got asked whether democracy should be compulsory.

You are one of many other online nations. Although there is limited interaction with other nations at the start, it looks as though the game will get more complex as it goes along.

So what I hear you say. Nice image and all, but not very interesting really. Well, the fact that the picture was created using MSPaint may amaze you. It took the bloke 500 hours to do. I am all for a bit of nice art, but this bloke must be a bit sad! Fancy wasting that amount of time on what, after all, is only a picture of a river. Shit!

Sims Torture Experiment - Boredem Online!

BradleysAlmanac has recreated another blog at originally at nematoddity's Monochromatic Rainbow that runs a simple experiment in madness using The Sims. The experiment begins with a one roomed house, containing a chair a fireplace and a clown painting. The chair is positioned facing the painting.

A "random couple" are created, and when they enter their lovely new home, the door is removed. After a short amount of time, craziness ensues. I won't go into details. You should read it yourself.

Now, don't get me wrong. I am not normally one to call people names, but how sad can you possibly be. Not only did nematoddity run the experiment in the first place and then documented it, but Bradley copied it. Get a life!

The Impossible Computer Game - A Complete Waste of Time!

yankeefog at MetaFilter has pointed out a game called Takeshi no Chousenjou which claims to be the hardest game ever. It was made by a bloke has also been a comedian and film director, but was once a game designer. Written for the Nintendo Famicom, highlights of the game included having to sing Karaoke for one hour and hitting a controller button 20,000 times to beat the big baddy.

Some people describe this game as legendary! It just seems to me like a complete waste of time.
